HUNT INDUSTRIAL FRAC SAND - TEXAS
Hunt owns the surface mining rights to 350 acres of land in northwest Houston. All of the sand is contained from the surface to a depth of fifty feet.; the mining process is “surface mining” which uses a dredging technique, utilizing water and industrial vacuums to extract the material. The process is safer and less expensive than other mining processes. There is approximately twenty one million tons of frac sand in the deposit.
The frac sand in the Texas region has had some advantages over traditional Northern sands, the most notable benefit being geographical – whereas the deposits are located near many of the traditional (Permian Basin) and recent (Barnett Shale and Eagle Ford ) oil and gas producing regions of the U.S.
The potential impact going into 2012: if number of new wells, stages per well and amount of sand per stage continue to grow per estimates, the potential demand for frac sand is explosive. For example, in Eagle Ford, the estimated volume for 2011 was over 3 million tons, but over 8 million tons projected for 2012.

HUNT GLOBAL RESOURCES, INC - OUR NEW STRATEGY
The Northern White Sand deposit is uniquely large with a high concentration of what is classified as “coarse” material. All so-called ‘white sand’ is not created equal. The vast majority of premium ‘white frac sand’ is produced in Northern Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. White sands produced today are from the Ordovician and Cambrian periods. The St. Peter formation – sands from Ottawa and all of Illinois as well as parts of Wisconsin and all of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri – is Ordovician. Most Minnesota sand and sand from parts of Wisconsin are Cambrian, which is the older period. These Cambrian sands are called Jordan Sands, which we consider older and having more valuable technical properties.
